The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Data Centres brings together parliamentarians to examine the UK’s data infrastructure, supporting informed policymaking on investment, energy, planning, and sustainable growth.
Data centres form a growing part of the UK’s digital infrastructure, supporting essential services such as communications, public administration, and cloud computing. As demand for data capacity increases, the sector presents both opportunities for investment, innovation, and skilled employment, and challenges around energy supply, planning, and sustainability.
Inquiry One: Unlocking the UK’s data centre potential
The APPG is examining the conditions required for the UK to attract, enable and sustain world-class data centre investment, and whether today’s policy and regulatory environment is fit for future growth. Written submissions and expressions of interest in giving oral evidence are both welcome.

Insights from the APPG’s inaugural Call for Evidence
Our first Call for Evidence ran from 14 January to 20 March 2026 and drew responses from 29 organisations across the UK data centre ecosystem — operators and developers, hyperscale technology companies, energy suppliers, universities, local and regional government, and environmental NGOs. The report sets out the priorities they identified, and the themes now being taken forward into oral evidence sessions.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Data Centres is seeking evidence and input to shape its Terms of Reference and future programme of work. Deadline for written submission is 11:59 PM on Friday, 20 March 2026.
We welcome contributions from across the sector, including:

- Combined Authorities and local leaders
